    laser profiling services

    LASER PROFILING ASSESSMENTS

Diversified Inspection Resources offers a variety of sophisticated laser profiling services for both Atex (Class 1 Division II) and Non-Atex environments to assist in the following ways:

Utilizing highly sophisticated Laser Measurement Technology, DIR can geometrically profile the inside of buried pipelines. The captured profile data is analyzed to verify for: proper pipe installations, quality defects, partial collapses, possible erosion or corrosion, remaining pipe integrity or pipe life, potential lining or remediation strategies.

For the LaserScan measurement, the camera is aligned with the inner pipe wall so that the distance to the camera is determined on the basis of two laser points. The entire profile is measured and any deviations in the sewer reach are recorded while the equipment is reversing out of the pipe with the camera simultaneously rotating. The data is then evaluated by the software and output in the form of a report and graphics.

Laser Ring Measurement Software provides pinpoint accuracy so that point repairs can be made, as necessary.

DIR’s use of Laser Measurement Technology detects a wide variety of different problems that can exist within a pipeline such as:

    • Location of a Separated or Offset Joints,
    • Location of a Leaks,
    • Location of a Broken Pipe,
    • Location of a Root Intrusion,
    • Location of Excessive or Impeded Water Flow,
    • Location of Bellies in a Pipe,
    • Location of Debris or Obstructions (Sand Infiltrations),
    • Determine Locations of Service Connections (Including ID Service Connection),

    And more…

    Profile analysis with IKAS evolution

The software platform is modularly expanded to include the functions of profile analysis and deformation measurement. The data is used to gain insights that go beyond purely optical inspection. The results can be visualized with descriptive graphics and output in individually configurable reports.

    quickview inspections

    Triage Pipe and Asset Maintenance

    Introduction To Quickview HD Assessments:

When you need a high-level inspection of your collection system Quickview HD assessments are there for your team. With the use of Quad-Haloptic technology it enables our teams to illuminate up to 400’ of straight pipe, giving your team a better look at your collection system.

Quickview HD Assessments are achieved by using portable HD zoom cameras that helps your team rapidly understand sewer and storm-water collection system conditions. It allows you to look deep within a pipe from a manhole to:

    • Diagnose emergency call-outs

    • Avoid putting a person into a confined space entry (potentially harmful environment)

    • Prioritize CCTV, cleaning, and rehab activities

    • View pipes that are too deteriorated for a crawler

Even with the right tools, standard-compliant sewer inspections can be costly that generally require a lot of time and resources. Many of our client’s only require a general understanding of a pipe or manholes condition which will allow them to prioritize cleaning, assessment, and/or remediation.

Communities across Alberta have turned to DIRs Quickview HD assessments to assist with that need. DIRs use of high-powered Quad-Haloptic light and HD cameras helps our Certified NASSCO Technicians assess sewer condition rapidly and affordably, making it ideal to prioritize cleaning and rehab activities, conserving CCTV resources, and avoiding confined space entry.

This efficient cost-effective assessment also allows the client to know what shape their system is in today, and allows clients the time required to plan, engineer, or allocate budgets for the future where they are most needed to keep their systems working.

    Third-party coating inspection services

    NACE-Certified Third Party Coating Inspections

Diversified Inspection Resources provides independent, AMPP (formerly NACE International / SSPC) Certified third-party coating inspections, coating consultations, and project management services to ensure protective coating systems are applied in full compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Our inspectors deliver objective oversight throughout surface preparation, application, and curing processes, verifying quality, safety, and long-term asset protection. By identifying issues early and documenting compliance, we help clients minimize risk, reduce rework, and extend the service life of critical infrastructure.

AMPP (formerly NACE International / SSPC) Certifications

Each of Diversified Inspection Resources Certified AMPP Coating Inspectors demonstrate advanced knowledge and competency in the inspection of protective coating systems. Each certified inspector has completed the AMPP (formerly NACE International / SSPC) Coating Inspector Program (CIP) which includes Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 certifications, covering inspection procedures, surface preparation, environmental monitoring, coating application, testing, documentation, to industry standards such as SSPC, ASTM, and ISO. These certifications ensure each and every inspector is qualified to perform independent, third-party inspections that verify compliance, quality, and long-term corrosion protection.

What is Industrial Coating Inspection, and why is it important?

Diversified Inspection Resources industrial coating inspection services is a structured evaluation of protective coatings applied to industrial assets (such as steel structures, tanks, pipelines, and concrete surfaces). It confirms that the coating system meets the specified standards, was applied correctly, and is performing as intended. It is important because these coatings act as a key defence against corrosion, abrasion, chemical exposure and environmental damage—without proper inspection, the risk of failure, costly repair or downtime increases significantly.

What services does DIRs' coating inspection team provide?

Diversified Inspection Resources offers specialized third-party services focused on the quality assurance and verification of coating systems. This includes reviewing coating specifications, monitoring surface preparations, measuring film thickness, detecting defects (such as pinholes, holidays, and adhesion failures), and producing detailed inspection reports. These services help asset owners ensure contractors meet the required standards and that the protective coating will deliver the expected lifetime.

What are typical methods and tools utilized by Diversified Inspection Resources while performing coa

During an DIR industrial coating inspection, several methods and tools are used:

    • Visual inspection for defects such as blisters, runs, and pinholes.
    • Dry film thickness (DFT) and wet film thickness (WFT) measurements to assess coating thickness.
    • Holiday detection and surface profile measurement to ensure the coating has full coverage and proper substrate roughness.

Recording environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) and verifying correct surface preparation.

How often should a coating inspection be performed, an what triggers additional inspections?

A coating inspection should occur at key project milestones: before coating application (pre-inspection), during application (in-process), immediately after (post-application), and then periodically during service life. The exact frequency of routine inspections depends on asset criticality, the environment, and the coating system. Additional inspections should be triggered by events like visible damage, unexpected environmental changes, asset modification or repair, or any indication of coating performance issues (e.g., corrosion, blistering, delamination).
